
Professional Support and Wellbeing unit
Overview
The Professional Support and Wellbeing Service (PSW) offers confidential, impartial and short‑term, solution‑focused support for doctors and dentists in training who need extra help to progress. Support may include one‑to‑one counselling, coaching, study and exam support, dyslexia screening and cognitive assessments, and referral to Occupational Health.

How to refer?
Self‑referral: trainees can refer themselves using the PSW referral route.
Educator referral: Educational Supervisors, Training Programme Directors or education leads can refer a trainee for support.
What happens next: a PSW case manager will contact you, agree a support plan, arrange interventions and follow up.
Resources
Common options include counselling, coaching, study skills and exam support, dyslexia screening and cognitive assessment, and referral to Occupational Health. Speak with your Educational Supervisor or TPD if you are unsure whether PSW is appropriate.
